One of the best ways to grow your business and attract clients is to become credentialed with the International Coach Federation (ICF). This not only makes you more credible to prospects and current clients; it SETS YOU APART from the myriad of people calling themselves "A Coach" or "Life Coach". An ICF credential is your crucial differentiator in the market place.
ICF has three designations at the present time: ACC (Associate Certified Coach), PCC (Professional Certified Coach), and MCC (Master Certified Coach). I strongly encourage you to visit the ICF’s website at www.coachfederation.org to thoroughly review their requirements & process for credentialing. Check the ICF website for the latest credentialing requirements as they may change over time.
Mentor coaching is a mandatory requirement to become eligbile for ICF credentials. ICF Definition of Mentor Coaching: For the purpose of credentialing, mentor coaching means an applicant being coached on their coaching skills rather than coaching on practice building, life balance, or other topics unrelated to the development of an applicant’s coaching skills. This requirement is intended to help applicants prepare for participation in the ICF assessment of your coaching conversation.
As your Mentor Coach, I will review your coaching conversation with a real client focusing on the process and flow with the goal to hone your skill to coach for awareness. I will analyze your client's response based on your question and then get behind the conversation to help you uncover what you were thinking and then calibrate your intention so that you can fully demonstrate the competencies at the level of credential you are seeking. Through this process, you deepen your learning helping you to become a better observer of yourself on how you served your client i.e. what is happening within you and what actually happened, why it matters and thus I offer valuable suggestions on where your growth opportunities are in manner that is supportive and affirmative.
The Mentor Coaching process includes review of your coaching conversation recordings, preparing the feedback for question by question of the your coaching conversation and debriefing with you to identify growth opportunities. The Feedback is the most valuable component in this mentor coaching. It is labor intensive because the recording has to be heard several times and analyzed segment by segment, line by line, question by question according to the flow of the conversation. Importantly, you will receive practical suggestions with sample questions on how best to improve the coaching process.
The ICF Core Coaching Competencies can seem abstract or vague but through the mentor coaching you will be amazed at how these competencies give coaching the leverage it has, to bring about positive change. You can expect breakthroughs such as:
As your mentor coach, I will help you see precisely how each of the Core Coaching Competencies contributes to coaching excellence. You will experience a new appreciation for your current strengths while uncovering hidden potential for greater effectiveness and artistry. You’ll enjoy a new level of confidence, and your clients will get even better results.
